Hartzell Engine Technologies - Turbocharger Systems
As the largest manufacturer of general aviation turbocharging systems, Hartzell Engine Technologies supplies all of the major engine OEMs. Originally designed by Honeywell/Garrett and Rajay, Hartzell has invested in engineering development and software tools to create superior, proprietary system designs. While the turbocharger is the heart of a turbocharging system, the full system is comprised of multiple components working together. Wastegates
Wastegates, also referred to as Exhaust Bypass Valves, are necessary in many turbocharger systems to manage speed or compressor discharge pressure (boost) during certain conditions of a flight. Managed through a controller, the opening wastegate allows exhaust gas to bypasses the turbocharger, limiting speed and boost. HET produces two categories of wastegate valves a poppet style and a butterfly style.
